Success Stories
How do we know NAPPI works? From the testimonials and success stories we hear from our customers. One great example is this video. In it, members of Eagleton School speak of their experiences with NAPPI training. The owner of Eagleton was so impressed by their success that not only did he purchase NAPPI’s US rights a few years ago, but he asked his staff to put their experiences on camera.

NAPPI not only helped us meet new restraint regulations for the Massachusetts Department of Education, it allows us the flexibility to modify it for our population (autistic children). We were able to give our staff parameters and the definition.” -- Jennifer Lambert, Assistant Special-Education Director
“We just received an exemplary performance on our CARF survey, due in large part to NAPPI. We reduced seclusion and restraint by over 50% in two years.” -- Marie Dennis, Compliance Risk Manager
“This training in NAPPI has been invaluable to our staff in working with children who have been removed from homes due to abuse and neglect. Staff is utilizing the training and we have seen a reduction in the need to physically restrain clients due to the use of NAPPI methods. NAPPI works... and is wonderful.” -- Elizabeth Winter LMHC Program Director
"NAPPI is flexible -- it helped us work safely with all our populations -- kids, elders, adults -- and issues --MRDD, MI, substance abuse, Alzheimer's... NAPPI is proactive -- our restraints dropped 100%: from seven per month to zero for over a year. NAPPI is positive -- people here are always saying “let's NAPPI-ize this and make it greener.” NAPPI is impactful -- a recent employee award stated:” this employee fills our clients’ lives with so many good things they don't have time to do negative things.” -- Kristin Klein, Director Of Training
"Before NAPPI, we did restraints all the time, our turnover rate was awful, and staff complaining, bickering and finger-pointing was epidemic.
Since NAPPI we hardly restrain at all, staff turnover has dropped significantly, and staff work together cooperatively, even starting to do things together after work which they've never done before. We make and track decisions, then follow through on what works to do everything better. We work to keep the NAPPI focus and commitment strong. I help supervisors use their NAPPI skills with their own staff. We are really committed to NAPPI here, and our staff can see a tremendous difference in their own lives." -- Terry Badeaux, Program Manager
End of Course comments
This training is just too good to let slip away.
Peter knows how to relate in the classroom the skills and techniques that have the most impact on what we are doing here.
I can’t wait for the next NAPPI training! It is all so good!
It was informative and interesting and right on the money! His training sessions are always the most helpful of any of the trainings I attend. The Behavior Scale is a great tool and we need to make use of it here.
He provides us with avenues and options and lots and lots of positive choices/examples/ideas I would not have thought of myself to handle really tough situations at work.
Excellent presenter, great sense of humor, with an amazing talent at keeping his audience focused and attentive. I really enjoy his classes. All of what he teaches us is so important and so helpful. The Behavior Scale is the most vital tool we covered as well as the notion that I can change the story I am telling myself to keep me from taking things personally when it is not appropriate to do so. Thank you!
Peter uses clear and simple and easily understood language to teach us all about NAPPI. His topics are easily understood and applied to our day to day work and he presents it in a way to help us make sure we can recall it to memory as needed. The levels of The Behavior Scale really make a difference.
Very good. Very helpful. I will put what I’ve learned to good work. The five levels of The Behavior Scale are by far the most helpful tool we’ve ever learned.
I really feel if we apply this to our program (and really apply it) it will lower the confusion/agitation/miscommunication between client/client and staff/client interactions.
Any one in the Mental Health field should learn NAPPI. It is the most comprehensive and knowledgeable program I’ve ever had and it really works!
The information received in this two day introduction to NAPPI has opened my eyes to the danger that I can be to a client without full knowledge of how to always make it safer.
The change NAPPI has made at our facility (through our NAPPI on site trainers) has been very positive. Our recurrence of incidents using restraints has decreased significantly and dramatically. I am looking forward to becoming an On Site Trainer because I know how much it will mean to our facility and our clients.
The information we covered in these first two days have given me tools for defusing escalating situations that I had never imagined possible before. I especially appreciate the focus on dignity for clients.
The combination of lecture, physical practice, presentation, and open discussion was very enjoyable.
This was a very fun, interesting, and engaging training. The most helpful piece of our training would have to be the communication skills; Making a Clear Request, Keeping a Conversation On Track, and Defusing will prove invaluable. All of these techniques are great skills to use at work and in my personal life. The most interesting was the Green Behavior Scale! I never thought about clients’ lives in that way before. Wow!
The techniques taught were different from anything I’d ever been taught before and seem so much safer for staff and clients. Thank you.
I have attended numerous State (sponsored) Train-the-Trainers (sessions) and have found this one to be one of the best.
I have been involved in 25 years of managing violent behavior. I wish NAPPI as it is today was available back then. I can’t imagine anyone in any setting with any disability wouldn’t profit from this materials. I can even see myself using it in my personal life. Thank you for your dedication over the years.
I love the Lalemand Behavioral Scale. Having a common language will be very helpful. The SMART Principles will also be very beneficial to our program. This will help us be more proactive rather than reactive.
This course has definitely given me the tools to serve my clients better and keep the staff and clients safe. I appreciate this opportunity.
Not only did he train me on safety in the office but safety in my regular routine outside of work.
Your approach and presentation was different and interesting and left me motivated. I’d like more.
With sixteen years of experience in the mental health field, much of my passion was gone. This program has renewed my passion and I feel like the person I was sixteen years ago!
He gave not only helpful material but made it interesting. Gave me ideas to use in my own home as well in the workplace. Thank you
