Our Credentials

NAPPI has been in use at facilities that have successfully been credentialed by JCAHO, COA, CARF, DOJ, and CMS. We have worked with the NTAC of the NASMHPD on their restraint and seclusion elimination initiative to provide trauma-informed care in a non-coercive, nonviolent treatment milieu. We strive to create environments where restraints are unnecessary, assaults are unknown, and where everyone feels safe. That requires giving staff members the skills to respond to positive behaviors, to intervene with unwanted behaviors, and have the confidence and ability to safely stop physical harm when necessary. We have consistently been an industry leader in establishing best practice care.

“Make no mistake about it, safety requires that staff understand how to respond to unwanted or dangerous behavior. However, it is when staff members have the tools to identify when someone is at his or her best that the culture of the organization changes to a truly strength-based, recovery-focused approach.”
Peter Eastman
President, NAPPI Inc.

Our programs have been reviewed and approved (in states that do approvals) or found to be within the bounds of the pertinent laws and regulations (in states that do not ‘approve’ training and education providers) in many states, including Arkansas, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Vermont. We are an approved Department of Education PDP provider in both Illinois and Massachusetts (the only states where we have applied). NAPPI has recently been approved for use in Florida DJJ facilities by the Florida Network.

Our clients consistently report to us that with a thorough implementation and integration of the NAPPI principles into their organization, they see significant positive outcomes, which can include: fewer restraints, fewer injuries, lower turnover, increased morale, increased levels of service, and better treatment outcomes.
