NAPPI, International to Provide Innovative Safety Training OnlineNews From: NAPPI, International (FORT MYERS-May 1, 2007) NAPPI, International (Non-Abusive Psychological & Physical Intervention), one of the most experienced providers of behavioral safety training, is teaming up with Essential Learning, the largest provider of E-learning services in the behavioral health and human services industry, to create an e-learning training site and online courses to provide behavioral emergency support and safety training. NAPPI provides positive psychological and physical intervention training programs for all professionals who deal with challenging, difficult or even violent behaviors. Effective skills training is integral to NAPPI’s goal of creating humane and effective environments where restraints are unnecessary, assaults are unknown, and staff and clients feel safe. Essential Learning (EL) is dedicated to meeting the training needs of human service and behavioral health providers and currently serves more than 240 organizations in 30 states. Through its web-based e-learning management system and extensive course library, EL has provided nearly one million courses on-line. Essential Learning will develop NAPPI’s on-line training site and courses based on NAPPI’s training materials. The two organizations will also collaborate to develop eight hours of online courses that will be available to both NAPPI’s and Essential Learning’s customers. This partnership will help organizations satisfy continuing training requirements imposed by a variety of federal, state and accreditation agencies. NAPPI was founded in 1977 by Kurk Lalemand in Auburn, Maine as the first-in-the-country NON-ABUSIVE physical intervention program. Quickly adding defusing skills, the company continued to develop extensive verbal focusing on three distinct aspects: the assessment, prevention and physical management of violent behavior. NAPPI has helps thousands of organizations in 28 states and three countries create environments that move away from a control framework toward a non-coercive, relationship-based framework. This helps staff develop powerful and positive influence with the people they serve. Peter Eastman, President of NAPPI: “We looked for a long time for the right partner to help us move into the electronic learning arena. We are very proud of the work we do, and Essential Learning provides the right mix of industry experience, professionalism, and caring attitude. I believe this partnership ensures that NAPPI’s premiere content is translated into a valuable learning experience to a much larger audience.” Essential Learning was founded in 2002 and is based in San Diego, California. “NAPPI is the safety leader in providing training for the health care workforce serving high-risk mental and substance-use conditions,” said Lorraine Watson, Ph.D., President of Essential Learning. “We are pleased to team with NAPPI in developing a proprietary E-learning solution that underscores their commitment to developing innovative and effective staff safety training.” For more information, visit NAPPI’s website at http://www.nappi-training.com. ### |
