Restraint avoidance* is at the heart of a NAPPI training. Here’s how we approach it:
NAPPI uses a behavior assessment scale to teach de-escalation skills, humane and effective responses, and the ways to develop a culture of cooperation.
Often, restraint events occur because a minor event escalates. By employing NAPPI techniques, that intensification can be avoided.
*Even at NAPPI, we acknowledge that sometimes restraint is unavoidable. When this is the case, always remember that applying a restraint is an enormous responsibility because the restrainer is responsible for everyone’s safety.
In such situations, it is absolutely necessary to be highly-trained.
